Recording Release #10 is on it's way
In July we started the recording sessions for my 10th recording release. It features several steel guitar pieces arranged with horns.
The blend of steel guitar with horns is a unique sound unlike anything else. It's like Western swing, Hawaiian and a little jazz rolled up together in a package which is distinctly American. In my feeling, is the most lush and rich sound of anything I do musically.
I have a strong feeling of being personally rewarded and enriched just to be working on this project. It features Kevin Koch and Junior Smith on drums, Dave Castel de Oro and Troy Jennings on saxiphones, plus the guitar work of Jon Harford and Steve Nichols, and yours truly on Supro lap steel, National Tricone and standard guitar.
In December we will complete the recording. Then the analog recordings will be brought in to a computer based studio for mixing and mastering. This is all very exciting. Maybe in January or February 2008 we'll be done. I can't say for sure. It's art and it just takes as long as it takes.
